We can spot those who need a break and we can spot those who inspire

Be a spotter.

We can spot those who need a break and we can spot those who inspire.

For every problem, people are finding solutions. Below I've listed observations from the past week through conversations I've had, news we covered and social media posts. The good doesn't negate the bad for those who are feeling this reality, but the bad shouldn't hide the good either.

People worry they’ll get sick at work but know their medical skills are needed. They wonder if while trying to save others they're putting their own families at risk.
AND
Those medical workers are saving lives. They are sending healthy people back to their families.

People worry their business, their life dream, will shutdown. The employees they were proud to be able to hire may now be out of jobs even though their grit deserves better.
AND
Business owners are adapting and finding ways to get through by serving more people online or switching gears to make a new, needed product. They may not be thriving but they are surviving.

People worry they're failing at teaching their kids. They don't know or care what common core is. They want to be positive but sometimes it feels fake and the realness weighs on them and they aren't as patient as they should be.
AND
Parents are finding new ways to connect with their kids. Screw common core. Today they shared a laugh over a puzzle.

People worry their spouse is drinking too much. They're hoping the alcohol releases the heaviness but it, of course, doesn't. People worry that could lead to worse things. So much worse.
AND
Therapists and counselors are stepping up and making sure they are a phone call away for people who need them. AA meetings have gone virtual.

People worry when they respond to the fire station they'll be sent to a home where a person is coughing.
AND
Firefighters are driving past homes where kids are celebrating birthdays. Those kids are getting lights and sirens and a real truck driving by just for them. They're getting a birthday they'll never forget. The firefighters are finding a warmed heart too.

People worry about their mom, their dad, their grandma, their grandpa, their neighbor.
AND
We are connecting with those we love. A handwritten note, a song out a window or a virtual happy hour.

It's heavy. There is no winner for the person who carries the heaviest load. There is no reason to feel guilt if it weighs on you. It's okay. It's heavy.

Just rely on the spotters in your life who are there to lift it for you, even for a moment. And if in the right position, be ready spot someone else.

Together, we can all do our best, our very best, to not add to anyone else's weight.
We're all in this together.
